Personal Statement
Since I was little, the question 'Who am I?' has always lingered in my mind, guiding my journey of self-discovery. I am Mariya Atanasova, a 15-year-old 9th grader now, daughter of Ilia and Ani Atanasova. Though I know who I am, I believe I am much more than just that. I’m still uncovering my true purpose and essence. I seek peace and calm, finding comfort in quiet places where I can reflect and immerse myself in beauty. As an artist, I express myself through drawing, and as a pianist, I play for the joy it brings me, not for applause. Music and art are where I truly connect with myself. I take pride in my education, not just for grades, but for the growth it brings. Challenges are opportunities to learn and get closer to my true potential. Happiness, for me, is found in personal fulfillment, not material wealth. It comes from embracing the journey, learning, and growing each day. I welcome challenges and see setbacks as lessons on the way to becoming the best version of myself. What sets me apart is my determination. When others doubt me, I stay focused on my goals, refusing to give up. I believe mistakes are part of the process, shaping me into who I’m meant to be.
Academic Goals
My vision for school is pretty simple: keep growing, even when it’s hard. I want classes that challenge me, teachers who push me, and friends who love learning as much as I do. I dream of going to an Ivy League university where I can dive into tough courses, try new ideas, and build real projects. I want to get better at thinking clearly, being creative, and leading a team. With good mentors and opportunities, I believe I can turn what I learn into something that helps people—at school, in my community, and beyond.

People often say that children are meant to exceed their parents. That belief has always driven me to encourage my daughter to grow into a better version of myself. From her earliest years, I guided her, supported her, and gently pushed her forward. But one day, I realized something had changed—she no longer needed my supervision.
She had found her own purpose. She began setting her own goals, planning her future with intention and clarity. I watched in awe as she mapped out her studies—not just her school exams, but external ones too. Her focus, her discipline, her quiet determination—it all left me speechless.
She studies with such intensity and heart. And in those moments, I feel an overwhelming pride that words can hardly express. I have no doubt that she will achieve anything she puts into her heart and vision.
